I have never been super into folk music, but this guy is insane. His music both relaxes and inspires, if you are looking to get pumped this is not the download for you. His name is Kristian Matsson, and he comes from Dalarna, Sweden. The band is called "The Tallest Man on Earth", and I can't get away from his voice/guitar. Below are 10 that span 3 of his albums, I recommend grabbing albums "The Wild Hunt" (2010), and "Shallow Grave" (2008). You won't be disappointed...

Last week Smith Westerns released their single "Weekend"

off upcoming album Dye It Blonde.

Chicago natives Smith Westerns blend what they feel is

a mix of 70's rock with a modern alternative style.

They got their start on 2009's self titled album, 

which is a little more punk/garage sound.

St. Vincent

Been a minute since I have posted, I think you will all enjoy this one very much

St Vincent has been one of my favorite bands since I saw them live in 2008, and then again this past summer. Led by Annie Clark (who played behind such bands as Sufjan Stevens, and opened for the National, Arcade Fire, and Grizzly Bear), this band has a unique sound that blends indie guitar with enchanting vocals.

Andrew Bird is incredible in this video too, but Annie steals the show.

With Brooklyn based rap group "Das Racist", it really is a hit or miss. What you should know is that this group (comprised mostly of 2 guys, one from Queens the other from San Fran), pride themselves in "joke rap". This is a very different sound from the accessible Lil Wayne, or the catchy Wiz Khalifa. Das Racist is an unconventional, often offensive, very fun group to listen to.

Monsters - Conner Youngblood

On his new single "Monsters," this Dallas native reminds me of no one but Tunde Adebimpe from TV On The Radio.  His high pitched/soothing voice is almost identical.  This track is sweet, and at times sounds like Bassnectar is dropping a beat in the background.
